I speak to you today with a heavy heart and a sense of responsibility, aware of the turmoil and violent protests unleashed in some of our states.   2. Notably among the protesters were young Nigerians who desired a better and more progressive country where their dreams, hopes, and personal aspirations would be fulfilled.   3. I am especially pained by the loss of lives in Borno, Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna and other states, the destruction of public facilities in some states, and the wanton looting of supermarkets and shops, contrary to the promise of protest organisers that the protest would be peaceful across the country.   Gov. Abiodun Lauds Youths, Students for Shunning Nationwide Protest. Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, on Thursday, praised the peace and tranquillity across the state, saying the conduct of the people of the state during the first day of the anti-hunger protest was commendable. Prince Abiodun particularly commended the youths and students for shunning the protest. According to the governor, there was no protest in the state as they hearkened to the advice of the state government not to allow themselves to be used by frustrated politicians.
