Appeal for Clarification and Review of the Proposed Site for the Imeko Police Area Command Project


AN OPEN LETTER TO DISTINGUISHED SENATOR SOLOMON OLAMILEKAN ADEOLA (YAYI), FCA

Senator Representing Ogun West Senatorial District

Dear Distinguished Senator,


We wish to sincerely commend and appreciate your unwavering commitment to the development of Ogun West Senatorial District. Your numerous interventions in infrastructure, education, security, and community development have continued to inspire confidence and hope among the people of Ogun West and Ogun State at large.


It is in the spirit of constructive engagement and support for your laudable efforts that we respectfully draw your attention to concerns being raised by members of the Imeko community regarding the location of the proposed Police Area Command project.


We understand that the original site proposed and endorsed by community stakeholders for the project was located along the Oke-Agbede/Moriwi/Iwoye Road. However, there are growing concerns that construction activities may now be directed to a different location beside the existing Police Divisional Headquarters in Imeko.


The original proposed site was carefully selected by community stakeholders after due consideration, as it was widely regarded as the most suitable and strategic location for the Police Area Command project. While we acknowledge and appreciate the value of the area adjacent to the existing Police Divisional Headquarters, many residents believe that the initially proposed location offers greater advantages in terms of accessibility, future expansion, and the overall objectives of establishing an Area Command. We therefore respectfully seek clarification on the reasons for any proposed change and whether such a decision reflects the recommendations and understanding reached during the initial consultations.


Our appeal is not intended to oppose the project or undermine your developmental efforts. Rather, it is a sincere call for openness, consultation, and adherence to due process so that the project can achieve its intended objectives while enjoying the full support and cooperation of the host communities.


We therefore respectfully urge your office to engage the relevant authorities, project committee members, traditional and community leaders, as well as other stakeholders, to clarify the current situation and ensure that all decisions are made in the best interest of Imeko-Afon Local Government and the wider Ogun West Senatorial District.


Once again, we express our profound appreciation for your dedication to the development, security, and welfare of our people. We remain confident that under your capable leadership, this matter will receive the necessary attention and be resolved in a manner that promotes unity, accountability, fairness, and the collective interest of the community.
