SETTING THE RECORD STRAIGHT ON THE FALSE CLAIM OF IMEKO-AFON APC HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY CONSENSUS

Our attention has been drawn to the ongoing false alarm and misleading narratives being circulated by some individuals, party members, aspirants’ supporters, and political groups concerning an alleged APC Imeko-Afon House of Assembly consensus arrangement.

It has become necessary to clearly state that there has been no official process of consultation, agreement, alignment, or collective understanding among the aspirants, key stakeholders, party structures, and the broader electorate regarding any consensus candidate for the House of Assembly ticket.

The public should understand that no legitimate stakeholders’ meeting or duly recognized party process has produced such a consensus. What is presently being paraded in some quarters is nothing more than an unofficial and deceitful agenda driven by personal interests and selfish political calculations rather than the authentic position of the party leadership.

Consensus in a democratic setting cannot be built on rumours, selective consultations, intimidation, or propaganda. It must emerge through transparent engagement, mutual agreement, inclusiveness, and the collective will of party stakeholders and the people concerned.

It is therefore unfortunate that certain individuals and groups have chosen to spread misleading information capable of creating confusion, unnecessary tension, and division within the party and among members of the constituency.

We wish to firmly emphasize that the APC remains a democratic institution guided by due process, fairness, consultation, and internal democracy. Any genuine decision concerning the House of Assembly ticket must come through credible party procedures and broad stakeholder participation, not through unofficial declarations designed to favour personal ambitions.

We therefore urge party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard these false claims and remain calm, united, and committed to the collective progress and stability of the party.
